Vitality checks
Vitality checks
If you are planning a strenuous trip that requires a high level of fitness or would like to return to regular sport activity after a long break, you should have a small check-up and have your vitality checked. In recent years, examination techniques have been developed to such an extent that it is now possible to use simple procedures to determine whether you are up to the challenge. Before planning to have children, a gynecologist also recommends a health check in order to plan a successful pregnancy.
These examinations also serve for the early detection of risks of chronic diseases, such as circulatory disorders (arteriosclerosis), tendency to thrombosis, diabetes and high blood pressure, so that your personal risk profile can be created. Only when you are aware of your own risks can you and your family doctor intervene early enough and effectively to prevent these diseases.
The health examination by statutory health insurance companies is important and useful, but can only be used every 2nd year from the age of 35 onwards. The services only include the physical examination, cholesterol, blood sugar determination and urine control.
However, from my point of view as an internist and vascular specialist (angiologist), there are familial clusters of these chronic diseases, so that a health check-up at a younger age or additional examinations can definitely make sense for people from such families. Such individual health services are billed according to the medical fee schedule, as they are not part of the health insurance company's range of services. We will be happy to help you select the examinations to create your individual risk profile.
